Product Description

The Old London is a very traditional tankard style that hails from (you'd never guess) the pubs of London, England.  It's a very appealing shape and the narrowed  rim is practical too:  Not only does it bring a level of rigidity to the cup that is greater than any of our other standard grade tankards, it's also great for concentrating the aromas from many styles of beer.

More to the point remember this tankard's heritage - regular's at any pub expect certain styles of beer to have a proper head, and delivering that is critical to the  pub-owner's business.  If your beer style is even a little bit inclined to produce a head, then the narrowed rim of this tankard will deliver that every time.

  1. Easiest $50 I've ever spent. 5 Star Review

    (Submitted on Aug 30th 2017)

I'd suspected that with so many cup styles listed as "sold out," and with the company located across the pond, it'd take weeks, months, for the items to arrive. I contacted Crafted Cup early...a little too early, if I'm being honest. Early August for a Christmas present? But once Gareth got in touch with me, I decided to order them as soon as I could.

Now that I've received the cups and drunken from one, I can say with confidence: sure, it's a damn good cup. It looks beautiful, it doesn't taint the flavor of the beer, and although it's more lightweight then I expected, it's certainly sturdy and solid enough. And you can see the handmade craftsmanship throughout the piece, with small nicks and welding-bubbles in places. (Not a detriment, mind you!)

But you can read about the merits of the cups themselves from any of the bountiful reviews on this site, written by other loyal customers (whose ranks I've certainly joined), so with what little time I've got on this earth, I'll spare some to mention my experiences with Gareth, our emails, and how pleasant it was dealing with the customer service of Crafted Cup as a whole. He's to pewter tankards (rather a niche market, I'll admit) what Fox Creek are to leather jackets: the products can stand alone, certainly, just on the merits of their craftsmanship and quality. But both these companies stand behind their products, offering them to you with joy and pride. It's hard not to get excited about pewter mugs when speaking to Gareth.

If, for some ungodly reason, I've managed to break this lovely Old London cup (doubtful), and need a sturdy replacement, I'll be coming straight back for another. On the other hand, if I need to send more gifts to any more beer-swilling manly-men in the near future, that'll be another reason to swing by and say "hi" to Gareth at the CCC. You, sir, have earned a customer for life.

  2. Good but difficult to clean. 4 Star Review

    (Submitted on Jun 14th 2017)

Looks good, really lightweight, but I'm finding it difficult to clean. maybe I need to buy polish?

Crafted Cup response: Thank you for the feedback Stephen! Some people do use polish (please see our care page and definitely don't use silver polish) but to be honest we have never needed to. Dish detergent and a soft cloth have always done the job for us.
