Our one (imperial) pint lidded tankard is tough and fun.  It’s a ‘medium grade’ tankard so it has a bit more ridgidity than some, and the hinge is strong enough that if you take care it will last for many years of use.

Traditionally lids were put on tankards either to keep out the flies, or to stop bits of the ceiling falling in your drink in the days when building materials were a bit less reliable, depending on who you ask.  Or (our favorite) to reduce spills when the drinker was jostled in a crowded tavern.  Or maybe just because they look fun and people liked them, we don’t know.   There’s plenty of evidence that your average medieval fellow liked a shiny gadget just as much as we do today.  Whatever the reason, drinking from one of these gives you a great connection with generations of beer drinkers and is a great experience.

On the other hand, if this 19oz tankard isn’t awesome enough for you, why not take a look at it’s big brother, our 38 oz lidded tankard?
